Pros
Really accomplished colleagues, faculty who want to see students succeed, and generally want to see everyone succeed. Clear guidelines for tenure, shared governance, faculty concerns committees with the ear of the President and Provost, students who like being here.
Cons
the same things you find everywhere exist here (slow bureaucratic change - sometimes due to so many faculty hands in every decision - there are tradeoffs), but as of 2025, the school is really on the rise, new leadership since 2023 is really pushing us toward innovation, to carve out our own niche to position us well into the next decade(s), and I'm convinced we'll be growing in all the right ways as a result. Salary compression just as at every school but doing compensation studies to address internal and external equity issues.
