Pros

Decent benefits and reimbursement for DART.

Cons

From day one, I never felt like my job was secure. And it wasn't. My particular attorney threw me under the bus and lied to me on several occasions. (Yes, I caught him.) Winstead has a toxic working environment which is well known. While I was working at Munsch Hardt a former Winstead employee told me of her experiences of working at Winstead (she had worked there for 10 years before joining Munsch) so I was somewhat apprehensive joining the firm. Turned out she was right. HR does not back-up its employees. Training is minimal to non-existent. Cliques abound. Your talents are never recognized.

Pros

The pay is good. I had a wonderful pair of mentors while working here, who cared about me as a person as well as a professional.

Cons

Newer partners continued to act like associates, giving away very little of their work for fear of not having enough. This made it hard to get additional work in slow times. The partners had consistent workloads, but the associates had a very small number of people who would actually provide work which made the amount of work available extremely unpredictable, instead of having multiple faucets pouring work in the associate bucket, it was really one or two partners only.
