Pros

I started working at Weed Man a few months ago. Most of the people there didn't do a interview. They have two parts to the job, The Door Knocking side and the Technician season side. This is gonna be a long but detailed review of my experience and what others can experience For Door Knocking Your job is basically going door to door and knocking on door asking if people would like a free lawn care quote. if you are decent with communication and confident this will be easy, for others it can be a struggle to get leads (Phone Number and Name). The goal at my location was at least double digits leads 10+ which isn't very hard to do if you have some type of sales experience or just a good pitch. out of those leads you are expected to get 1-2 sales a day ideally. so if you work five days, you would ideally get 50 leads out of those 50, 10 should be a sale meaning they bought from you. you job is just to get leads and the main office would handle the payments and closing them. The Technician Season Your job as a Tech generally starts around 6:30 am (Might be different for certain locations) When you arrive, your job is to prepare your truck or van for the day, You get a paper run and a digital run on a app on a work phone that tells you to grab the necessary equipment and items you might need. You would then get it sorted and head off to your jobs at each location. Finishing times are different every day but no one is out longer than 6pm which is when they start closing. Some days you might finish around 2 PM, other days you might be there till 4-5 PM some days you are there till 6 PM. it all generally depends on how fast you are and efficient. Personal experience on Lawn Care. I had no previous experience on Lawn Care and I didn't think I would last but I was wrong, Everyone there was willing to help you learn and improve as long as you willing to ask and be ready to work. Management For the Management side of things, There is no issues. I see a lot of people having issues in different places but the Main Office makes it clear on how to handle it and I believe my location follows it strictly. The Manager (David) Assistant Manager (Walid) are the best managers I had for a long time. They are always in a good mood and want to help and outgoing. they aren't rude or they wave you off if you need something. they are always willing to help and make you better. that much i can appreciate, compared to other places I worked where it was terrible management. They have also worked in both positions as a door knocker and tech and they can relate to the some of the issues that it can have and the relation makes it so much easier because they know what you are going through. for example, spreader not spreading fertilizer properly, for weed spray the hose getting tangled. Hardest Part Of The Job The hardest part of the job will vary from person to person but for my experience the hardest part is working 6 days a week, and that is mainly because they are behind on finishing jobs and need to finish it more quickly. Some might find the hours, the outside work (Heat). Most Enjoyable Part Of The Job For Me The pay is the best part of the job for me, some get production pay meaning you get paid by the job which everyone does but some people struggle with efficiency, some get paid hourly, with either, you can earn commission by getting leads and sales while your working. someone sees you doing work and they want a quote and might lead to a sale

Pros

Great family-owned company to work for! Very personable and supportive management. There is a strong sense of teamwork, and everyone is willing to help when needed. I have appreciated the flexibility and opportunities to grow professionally.

Cons

The busy season can be demanding at times, so priorities can shift quickly, but that is to be expected in this industry, and they help provide support and make it easy to adapt!

Pros

Training is emmaculate and you meet some great people, at first it seems like Management is there to help you.

Cons

Low pay… starting people at $14 an hour plus commission is insane, and saying with the commission it will make up the rest is also insane, you’re required to call more than 300 people a day, for every day you don’t get a sale they pull you into Zoom which is really discouraging because even if you get 4 sales the day prior they really think you’re doing something differently & poking at you to give them an answer.. manager will blame you for their mistakes or the lack of information they provide but will snap at you for not knowing. You’d think selling lawn care should be easy and laid back but they make you do a bunch of homework for every call you make or take, filling out 3 sheets, if you sell someone you have to go through 18 confirmations with the client, make them state their name & put a card on file… for $14 an hour you’re asking people to do a lot.
