Pros

Used to have comprable pay with reasonable hours and fair benefits; unfortunately all that is gone now.

Cons

Things have dramatically changed to the worst Pay increases are a joke - only around 2%/year and some years none. Benefits are no longer worth talking about, no pension plan, PTO ... Salaried staff are mandated to work 50+ hours/week for months at a time with restrictions on time off; you can no longer have a life outside of work, unfortunately this is not a temporary thing, it has been going on for 2 years and expected for another 2 years at a minimum. They have IT managers who never worked in IT before and do not have a technical bone in their body yet they are good liars and know how to conn their way and steal credit at every turn from their own staff, you can only imagine the level of incompetence that you must deal with. HR is just a joke, they have no influence on anything that management does. They bring in a new CEO, with many employees laid off, then he hires a couple of his friends as highly paid Vice presidents ... really, this is how you deal with tough times. Keep in mind, WPS has made a profit every year for over 10 years now. I dislike unions but what WPS is doing to their workforce is unethical and unconscionable, I guess I would trade the problems a union would bring as oppose to the current state.

Pros

When I started here, I was in the help desk. Manager was great to work for, was supportive of my professional development, helped me learn other skills beyond help desk. Pay was above average for the industry. Wiki was well done, didn't have to learn 'tribal' knowledge. I had the ability to move up into other departments if I wanted and advance my career.

Cons

The health insurance could have been better.
