Pros
Friendly, team-oriented, decent salaries, cool culture. WPM is great, it is Snowden Overlook - one of their properties that I advise against working for.
Cons
I worked as the Events Coordinator for the Snowden Overlook Community Association (SOCA) for over a year and I can honestly say it was the worst employment experience of my life. I strongly advise against working for either the SOCA Board through WPM Real Estate Management.
The environment at SOCA is incredibly disorganized, yet the Board is hyper-focused on policies, many of which are inconsistently enforced. This is no fault of WPM - who consistently tried to reign in the Board. It became clear that the Board wasn't actually in control of decision-making—the real power lies with the spouse of the President, who micromanaged everything. As one of two on-site employees I received countless complaints about the current Board and the Spouse. This person was not only rude and unprofessional but also used uncouth email etiquette, and on several occasions used homophobic and discriminatory slurs against me. I personally witnessed several troubling incidents of racist comments and attitudes from some residents, which were never addressed by management.
Despite the community’s residents being generally kind, there is an overwhelming presence of toxic cliques that create an unwelcoming environment for newcomers, particularly non-white residents. I experienced several incidents where racist remarks were made, which I found deeply troubling. They hired me as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community to "fix their diversity issues" .... incredibly out of my pay rate and skills. Poor Leadership.
My role was reduced to a complaint department, with residents directing their frustrations at me rather than me being able to focus on my actual responsibilities. This environment was draining and demoralizing. I was constantly disillusioned by the lack of respect for myself and the office manager and the overall dysfunction of the workplace.
As an employee, I would absolutely not recommend working for Snowden Overlook through WPM. The toxic culture, and mistreatment were a constant source of stress. I sincerely hope that others can learn from my experience and avoid this place!
