Pros
- Focusing on research that matters: we are free to (and have the means to) pursue radically different research without worrying about publishing incremental changes - A diverse community within Vicarious: my colleagues come from very different backgrounds: from machine learning to neuroscience, cognitive science ... IMHO it feels as fun as graduate school, where I could collaborate with people across many different departments - As employees, we have a voice in all sorts of matters in our daily life as a company. We are regularly asked for our opinion, including in matters beyond research (if you're a researcher). - Work/life balance is great: the focus is on producing good research in the medium/long run, not on crunch and pulling late nights to get a short-term result.
Cons
- The commute is a bit long if you live in the city, and the building has no showers.
