Before it was sold to Styria, Vecernji was famous for its relevance, correctness, and high-quality and investigative journalism that politicians respected and journalists took pride in. It was THE BEST place to start a journalistic career, you could learn from the best people in the country. It used to be a respectable newspaper. Now it is a joke, a laughingstock of the government, and a true nightmare for most employees. It is a really sad story that may have been prevented. The leading roles were taken by young and inexperienced guys with 0 knowledge of how to run a media company, without valuable long-term plans or any business acumen. The managers took incentives for staff turnover of up to 15000 euros in one go. Freelancers were not free to work for someone else and the contract was never offered. I think they changed that now, but only after they were threatened by the government with fines. The salaries are really low.

There are no good reasons to work for this newspaper because nobody cares for quality any more, it is a good place for people who don't care

Disrespect for journalists, replacement of professional staff with fake free lancers, who have same obligations as staff (exclusivity of workplace, shifts, permanence...), but no guaranteed rights. Any text that can be produced cheaply is welcome to fill blanks between the adverts...
