Pros
As a whole, I do not believe Varsity is a bad place to work at. However, our specific department is run like a complete circus. All the bad reviews you see about this place, believe it.
Cons
Despite Varsity's core values of Integrity, Respect, and Transparency- not one of those values were practiced in our department. Management cared more about self advancement and making themselves look good- while the team that they mange suffers. You are promised all sorts of things, ex: job bonuses, promotions, etc. but when it comes down to it, they lie to your face and are manipulated just to get what management wants. They even start raising their voice at you if you ask too many questions. Promotions are not based on hard work, but based on who you know and how much you can suck up to management, as I've seen they promoted those who have little skill and are not even liked by other co workers. Do not expect to be rewarded or promoted for hard work. In fact, expect to be abused and given more workload since they see you are capable of doing it. Management is lead by someone with no technical background in fashion at ALL (their degree in in Health/PE. LOL!!), but instead learned from others at their time at Varsity- which is fine- However, when giving promotions to others, they refuse to promote someone based on not having enough experience and would have to learn on the job- LOL ironic!! Nepotism is strong as Management only hires their friends, even if they don't have a fashion background- which doesn't make sense for a fashion brand company. It's like a high school clique of who you know. If you're not in it, you're on the outside and pushed out. Nepotism at the company goes even further- as a manager in particular had numerous HR complaints by their team, but the company refuses to take any action or address the issue. They instead fired all the team members who complained about this particular manager.
