Pros

The business need is still there, but it’s so sad to see how far things have fallen. Varis used to be an incredible place to work, full of potential and promise. Engineers once took pride in their work and had genuine trust in their managers. Now, all of that feels like a distant memory.

Cons

It’s heartbreaking to see what’s happened to the company. So many talented people have been let go, and with them, much of the expertise and heart of the organization. The leadership seems lost, jumping from one goal to the next without a clear plan or direction, leaving a trail of wasted effort. The tech team worked hard to deliver, but their accomplishments were overshadowed by shifting strategies that rendered their work obsolete. The repeated layoffs have eroded trust and shattered morale, leaving employees disillusioned and leadership weaker than ever. Now, I’ve heard the tech team has been reduced to a skeleton crew, with the former head of sales trying to lead the dev team preceded by the former head of UX. Neither have a clue how to lead a tech team. What was once a thriving organization has spiraled into chaos, and it’s just so tragic to witness.
