Pros
1. Cheap location 2. Only one type of demography (and if you belong to that, then this is great). 3. No crime 4. No ambitious people around you. So if you do not work hard or do not wish to work hard, you will not encounter anybody around you (who work hard) to make you feel bad.
Cons
1. Only one type of demography (and you may not belong to this) 2. If you work hard, you will make everybody around you feel bad. So you will get a lot of enemies, who might hate you and your family and kids! 3. If you end up achieving good work, faculty members around you and the Administration (which is made of them) will try to get rid of you so that they do not need to see a successful person each morning when they come to work. If you are at Tenure-track then they would surely get rid of you. If you are permanent (that is, you are at Associate or Full Professor stage), they will start (a) taking away your space, (b) give random job to you, (c) prevent students who are interested in your group from joining the university.
