Pros
I joined UrbanPiper as a Senior Software Engineer and was later promoted to Lead Software Engineer. It was my first managerial role, and I learned a lot about team management and collaboration, along with enhancing my technical skills. The onboarding process was seamless, providing enough knowledge transfer (KT) to help me take ownership of the services early on. UrbanPiper is an excellent place for those who are eager to take on more responsibilities and collaborate with cross-functional teams. I had the opportunity to work closely with TAM teams, product managers, and program managers, which helped me develop strong relationships across teams. The company culture rewards ownership and accountability—if you take full responsibility for something, it will work in your favor.
Cons
The restaurant industry is inherently demanding during weekends, holidays, and special occasions. If you own a product, you need to be prepared for spikes in usage during these times and ensure a seamless experience for your customers. This is not unique to UrbanPiper—any company in the food tech space would require similar dedication during high-traffic periods. If you prefer to completely unplug during holidays, this might not be the right industry for you.
