Pros
Proud to be something bigger than yourself and defend your country. Job security - unless you do something REALLY big to mess up, you pretty much cant get fired.
Cons
Everyone gets the same pay - no matter how good, or how bad, you are. Work hours are extreme. When on sea duty, you're on the ship ALL the time. When on shore duty, if you're lucky to get a "nice" one, you'll have a lot of time of.
