Pros

Good way to get a feel for the hospitality/hotel industry. This is a good entry level job for those who have some flexibility in their schedule and don't mind working long hours. Not a particularly hard job. Once you get the hang of how their computer system works, it's mostly answering the same questions over and over again. As long as you show up on time and make decent sales, you'll rarely run into trouble with management. (Can be a con if you get bored easily.) You will occasionally get some nice perks like Broadway show tickets, harbor cruises, or dinner at a nice restaurant. If there's a raffle at a company event, they have some good prizes (TVs, tablets, etc.).

Cons

This is not a company that really values people. Your immediate managers are actually pretty friendly but those above them clearly see you as disposable. Management can also be extremely petty; if they don't like you they will chew you out for every minor mistake, while other people get away with much worse and aren't told anything because management likes them. You have to be very firm when it comes to your availability; if you make a one time exception and agree to work a day you normally don't, you will likely be scheduled that day again the next week as they mostly copy and paste the schedule. If someone calls out they will often try to bully you into staying late and make you feel guilty for saying no, even if you have a legitimate reason you can't stay (like needing childcare). And if you are sick, they will beg and/or threaten you to come in since they seem to be perpetually understaffed. Getting time off is also an extreme challenge. Even if you put in a request months in advance, you often won't hear if it's approved until right before the requested date, which makes planning any out of town trips difficult. Salary isn't the best. They will tempt you with the idea that you can make unlimited commission, but you are really limited by what hotel you're scheduled at. Some places you will only speak to a few guests a day, and converting them into sales is tough when they can just as easily book a tour/show online (sometimes for a lot less than you can give them).
