Pros
Working at TELUS wasn't completely unbearable. There are some true leaders there who work hard to make a difference. It is difficult to name many reasons why working here was positive so I will leave it at that. Real people on the front line and lower management carried that place, TELUS is unworthy of them.
Cons
They preach on and on about embracing change. They change things from week to week and day to day. There was rarely time enough to learn new processes and put them into practice to effectively make change before they were changing things again and always holding people accountable for not knowing up from down. Changes were made without critical thought, it's like they threw ideas in a hat once a week and whatever they pull out would rarely last long before they were on to some other doomed to fail process. Leaders are held deeply accountable for team members behaviors, performance and even attendance. As a leader when you are given a team of 20 some odd low paid team members to try to teach and develop and keep them excited about the work you are asking them to do, work that is always changing work that is criticized and held against them when the process itself is flawed. You quickly lose the team members respect for the job. There is very little development, if you are promoted you receive the most basic of training and are expected to know policy from top to bottom. You are set up to be the fall guy, so when the higher ups need to justify their paycheck they blame the team leads and team members failure. This place is run by ignorant senior leaders. They don't care about the people, development or support for people struggling to adapt to their every whim. I wasted 5 years there and I regret it deeply. That's on me. Wasn't always this bad, pre pandemic there was so much about this company that set them a part from other call center like jobs. They have given up on caring about their people and just want bodies in a seat to bill their clients for as much as they can and everyone is expendable. Honestly if you are desperate I get why you would apply, but get it and out as quick as you can. I am ashamed this place is on my resume.
