Pros

The hours are flexible, the staff is great to work for, the students are fun to meet and help to plan their educational career while at SFCC. The pay is great!

Cons

You are limited to only 600 hours per year. Your hours are cut back during the months when there are no students to enroll in classes to save your hours so that you have some left during busy months. You cannot work more than 17 hours per week, and there are no benefits besides getting to take one free class a semester.

Pros

The small class sizes and small campus. Love the art gallery for peaceful breaks. Very pretty campus.

Cons

Department directors will micromanage with a fine tooth comb. Students will cheat and not be held responsible. Students are now called clients. Lots of drama and gossip among department heads, everyone knows everyone else business. Feels like high school sometimes. The pay is so low, and of course adjuncts are paid the bare minimum but are expected to work unpaid outside of classroom hours without any incentives(benefits). No room for advancement, they’ll have 4-5 adjuncts per department to avoid hiring a full time faculty.
