Pros
The company has ways of recognizing and promoting potentials, so to get higher, your extra performance would not be swept under the carpet, though, may not come as early as expected, but it does actually and eventually come to pass.
Cons
The IT department especially should be cared for more because of every overtime spent, people kind of go through this without food or snacks to go with it, even if something would be raised the day after for compensation, but that extra touch of "I know you are there keeping things up" should be adopted.
