Pros

Family-friendly work atmosphere - so long as you get your work done, hours are reasonably flexible. LGBT+ friendly environment Many of the people who work here genuinely love what they do and find mission/purpose in the work. A medium-sized company like this has a good balance of structure (departments, defined roles) as well as opportunities to try your hand at developing new skills. If you have an idea to try something new or learn a new skill, the answer is almost always "go for it." The leadership consists of genuinely good people. They're smart and interesting. Not without their challenges (see below), but I believe they're trying hard to make this work.

Cons

I agree with the recent 1-star reviewer that some of the recent 5-star reviews are written by company leadership, intended to artificially prop up the company's image under the guise of being written by a typical employee. Unfortunately, this kind of treat-the-symptoms-not-the-problem approach is characteristic of Stamats in my experience. There are some real problems with employee morale and company culture. But rather than try to fix those problems, the "solution" is to combat 1-star reviews with 5-star reviews. One recent 5-star reviewer said that one of the cons of the company was "disgruntled employees" which is perhaps a sign of bigger issues (i.e., if so many former employees are disgruntled, what does that say about the company?). Poor company culture, management by timesheet (see below), playing favorites (see other reviews), and a lack of adequate training and recognition for completed work are just some of the reasons for disgruntled employees. The Stamats approach to timesheets and employee management is a huge miss. It is a waste of employees' time, incentivizes the wrong behavior (i.e., prioritizing the profitability of the project over the quality of the work), and creates a culture in which employees don't feel like they can be trusted by management. It's more than an annoyance, it's a real problem. But it's unlikely to ever change. There are real concerns about what the future of the company holds. The leadership team is the third generation of this family business; there is no fourth generation taking over. So what's next? It's unclear. And there are concerns about how competitive Stamats is in the market today. I would encourage candidates to press their interviewers on Stamats' future and get real answers to this important question.

Pros

- Remote, that's basically it I think

Cons
