Solent Group Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience at Solent Group. We’re glad to hear you valued our flexible and hybrid working options, as well as the supportive wider team. However the issues you’ve raised about management practices, culture, and leadership are of concern to us. Your comments about micromanagement, staff turnover, and leadership challenges are not aligned with the culture we aim to achieve at Solent. We recognise that strong leadership and a positive working environment are crucial to retaining and supporting talented individuals. We constantly review our structures and workplace practices to ensure they best support our employees’ growth and align with our values. There is always room for improvement, and feedback like yours is essential in helping us identify areas that may still require attention. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your experience further and if you would be open to doing so, please reach out to a member of our HR team. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you every success in your future endeavours.

Pros

There are capable, hardworking people across teams who genuinely want to contribute. The previous Managing Director at Go Superfoods was professional and supportive, and showed that good leadership was possible within the business.

Cons

I worked at Go Superfoods, which later merged into the Solent Group. Unfortunately, the merger did not improve anything. The same issues remain, and in some cases worsened. Leadership across both Go Superfoods and Solent Group is ego-driven, poorly aligned, and lacks a clear understanding of the business. There is a strong culture of blame, where employees are belittled, second-guessed, and held responsible for failures caused by unclear strategy and weak decision-making at the top. Following the departure of the previous CEO and the Go Superfoods MD, direction deteriorated significantly. Creativity is discouraged, loyalty is not valued, and high-performing, hardworking employees are pushed out, while manipulative or low-impact individuals are protected. The environment creates constant stress, shifting expectations, and zero psychological safety. Over time, this has a serious negative impact on mental health, confidence, and motivation. Rebranding and merging did not address the root problems. Solent Group is no different in how people are managed and treated.
