Pros
My journey with SolarCity began the first week of 2012 – I had heard about SolarCity entering the Arizona market back in early 2009; interested at the time in what SolarCity was doing, but not considering a career change just then (how we, as humans, hesitate to take risk and try something new and intriguing). Late 2011 things in my life changed, and I needed a new career. I took a challenge and became a site auditor for SolarCity; this may have been a step back in my career (perceivable at the time) since I had spent 5+ years in construction management as a project engineer, superintendent, and PM. Back almost a decade earlier in my career I was crawling through attics as an energy efficiency technician and here I was again, but I wasn’t discouraged, disappointed, or concerned; I had this new appreciation of really liking the company I worked for. Knowing that merit and the high quality work I performed wasn’t enough, I engaged the company and my bosses, embraced the company policies and procedures, and made myself available to help out and be part of everything I had the capacity for. It paid off! I became a PM in 2013, an Assistant Ops. Manager in early 2014, and an Ops. Manager fall of 2014. I am a firm believer that if you have passion for what you do, a positive attitude, and motivation to help make things better; that you can do anything and SolarCity is the place for you.
Cons
Tech/Construction Company? Who knew that would ever exist?
