Worst work experience ever. Management flat lies on hiring, claiming you can “move up as quickly as you want” meanwhile I have proven my skills and have been refused even a bench test. I have a degree in the field, have been soldering for three years and have an actual jewelry portfolio while there are people on the bench who have been working with metal for LESS than six months.
Management is unprofessional and tries too hard to be friendly with workers by making jokes at others’ expense. They don’t hold themselves to any standard but expect inhuman numbers from their workers.
By the time you have a second to practice repairs, all the jewelers are gone for the day so there’s nobody to ask questions or learn from. I also get blamed for jewelers’ shoddy work. Loose stones that fall out in the sonic cleaner? Pits that turn to holes when they touch a polishing wheel? Many jewelers refuse to take responsibility for the mistakes they make while rushing to meet the required metrics they’re threatened with every week.
