Pros

- Amazing coworkers who are creative and passionate about what they do - Free lunch every Monday - Ability to work from home - Opportunity to grow and take on more responsibility because it's a small team - Fun, rewarding projects

Cons

- Expectations and goals were EXTREMELY inconsistent. Courses were often cut suddenly, even if half the material had already been written or edited. Upper management often gave the excuse of "budgeting" issues, but creating and hiring for a half-written course wasted a lot of time and money as well. - I worked as an in-office contractor, but did the same work as FTE. Upper management tries to keep as many people as contractors, regardless of their value or performance, because it's cheaper to not pay out benefits. Having so many contractors in the office with little distinction from FTE will land the company in legal trouble. - Compensation was far below market price, for contracted writers and editors alike. - High turnover rate due to the cons I've mentioned.

Pros

Is there anything more rewarding than making a positive impact in someone’s life? You should see the reaction of accomplishment from Shmoop users. Awesome.

Cons

More capital for growth. Imagine if Shmoop could buy horrible providers and give students a tool that works.

Pros

Company did not spare expenses for work related travel

Cons

Leadership was not experienced enough on the sales side. Expected money to come in much faster than a typical sales cycle. Made work very frustrating, and stressful.
