Good people, teamwork atmosphere, everyone is willing to answer questions and lend a hand if you get swamped. It is expected to transfer sites among teammates if someone needs to jump off onto another project. Telecom can be an unpredictable industry but they try to maintain people rather than scaling down during slow times.

Tedious reporting. You have to complete a detailed time sheet (even salaried employees) though they bill the clients per milestone not per hour. If you are in a remote office, you have to email or IM the receptionist at the main office when you arrive, when you leave for lunch, when you get back from lunch, when you leave for the day, if you go into the field, etc etc. instead of just forwarding your phone to your mobile and putting on your out of office email notifications, even for salaried employees. I don't remember having to check in and out like this since waiting tables in college. This is not inspiring trust. Some people are allowed VPN connections and can work from home while others are not allowed to. You have "managers" who are not present or engaged (to the point of being a liability with clients) yet are allowed priveleges that hard workers are not. You fill out redundant paperwork for expense reports and such but that seems to be the case for many employers. Not much mentoring or structured plans for individual success. Training is spotty but getting better.
