Cons
I’ve worked for Sally since March 2024. I moved up from a standard Beauty Advisor to a Keyholder/Certified Color Consultant. There’s zero financial incentive to take on this role. I make the same as when I started, $13 an hour - the same as any new person walking in despite all of the added responsibilities. They act like it’s a badge of honor to get this position, but the only plus (and this is my DM’s words) is “it’s a great addition to your resume”, which just tells me they’re not trying to keep people long term in itself. The numbers they expect you to maintain is outrageous. If you’re buying color, that customer better have at least 6 add-ons! Gotta make sure all customers check out with 4+ items or it hurts your numbers. In what world is this a realistic expectation? Read the room - people can barely afford school supplies and groceries and most of our customers are shopping on a budget. We can’t upsell to people who literally don’t have the money. Your hours are supposed to be based off of your performance, but that’s a huge running joke. I’ve been our stores top performer consistently, outperforming our GM in most cases. And I just put my 2 weeks in because I’m over it. Not to mention the 15 hours vacation time I’ve earned has magically disappeared from the app after I tried to claim them. Your a number to this company. Nothing more, maybe less.
