Cons
The gossip and the backstabbing behind closed doors is a constant with Sally Beauty Supply. The attitude of the entire store is set by the store manager, and those in upper management do anything they can to destroy that if it's a positive environment. No joy, no fun and absolutely no spending any PERSONAL time with others who also work for the company. They set unrealistic goals and tasks for the managers, while the store is staffed by lazy and people who just do not care. They only want to promote those who are lazy and gossip mongers. I was lucky to be the only person who could have possibly been promoted due to a manager quitting. I was only a last resort because no one else would be stupid enough to take the position. I work in a VERY small store, with no room to work or breathe. We will not be relocating due to our sales. One day it was because our sales were doing really well, and the risk of relocating would lessen our sales. The next day it was because our sales were down, and relocating is very expensive and not worth it if we aren't out growing our store sales wise. We are outgrowing our store SPACE WISE. there is no room to move! You cannot expect a store our size to carry every product a store two times our size sells. But they do. The hours are crazy, as a manager I work 50+ hours a week, with a family at home. I'm paid JUST enough to pay my bills. And still struggling...Would I tell a friend this is an awesome place to work? Yes and no. Yes it is if you are working 20 hours a week, and not have to deal with any upper management. No if you are working 50+ hours a week trying to manage family life with work life and them always crashing together. It is a nice side job. Something to do part time. NOT full time.
