Pros

There are a few perks to working here: 1. A few employees are so kind. 2. The salary is generally good for that area but there is a undiscussed tradeoff.

Cons

The work environment is extremely hostile and there is always a black cloud hanging overhead. Everything looks wonderful from the outside for a strictly online company but unfortunately on the inside, verbal and mental abuse of employees is common practice from a specific member of the organization. While the corporate culture discusses honesty, integrity, transparency and no drama, you will not find any of that at Scottevest. Lies, deceit, throwing people under the bus and loads of drama from a specific member of the organization are ingrained in the culture. Sadly, the infection starts at the center of the organization. There is absolutely zero trust. Over 60 employees in the past several years have been hired and left the company. Do the math. Some employees last a few weeks to a few months. The turnover of employees is too high not to consider working some place else.

Pros

Generally when a workplace touts itself as drama free and dedicated to honesty, those statements are so dry you could start a fire with them. In my experience, however, these are genuine traits of the SCOTTeVEST atmosphere. Being able to bring your dog to work with you (and being able to take them out when they need to go) is great - you know you're not leaving your best friend alone at home crated all day (and your trash will stay safe at home while you're not there to guard it). The friendly atmosphere encourages and fosters actual friendship with your coworkers through weekly get togethers outside of work (a company perk includes the company covering costs for food and drink at a local bar - with excellent food, might I add - when 3 or more employees are together). The product is worth selling! As an employee, you also get a small clothing allowance every few months so that you can acquire some of the clothing to wear whether at work or in your personal life. The area is beautiful - if you're in to hiking and adventuring and skiing, it's the perfect location.

Cons

The area is a little remote - it's about an hour's drive to the closest Walmart, so you'll need to learn how to minimize shopping trips. Meetings with management can prove frustrating if you are not accustomed to being spoken to bluntly. Not rudely - but bluntly. Typically, they are quick to the point rather than dragging out the conversation.
