Pros

Good coworkers. Relaxed atmosphere. Supervisors are relaxed.

Cons

Horrible pay, bad hours. Average to poor working conditions, (mostly due to being an EMT not just due to Royal).

Thank you for bringing up the pay. As you know we pay more than some, and same as most other BLS providers in the area, but not less than anyone other than 911. The important part to understand, that as an industry, for the most part, we don't' set the fees we charge, but rather accept the Medicare and Medi-Cal rates that the government sets, which is not very much (i.e ~$107 for an Ambulance transport from Medi-Cal). We totally agree with you, that for the amazing work we perform we should all get paid significantly more. Organizations such as AAA and CAA (American and California Ambulance Associations) are fighting on our behalf as an industry to get us fair reimbursement and wages for the important work that we do. As far as Hours goes, the feedback we most typically get is that we are the most flexible BLS Ambulance provider in the Bay Area, working diligently to work around school and other life schedules as most of our team members are in hot pursuit of their dream careers or are in the discovery process of their future. Of course, we can't always accommodate everyone all the time, but we'll surely try. Thanks for bringing up the Best Places to work as we are very, very proud of the work our Team and especially EMT's do every day. We find it important to recognize and celebrate those efforts not only internally, but also with some external validation. Silicon Valley / SF Business times recognize the top firms in the bay area, amongst whom are LinkedIn, SalesForce, Hyatt, just to name a few. It's all done through anonymous surveys of the employees and without us kindly relying on your participation, we would not have been able to rank #12 out of hundreds of Bay Area companies. So, forgive us if our reminders were annoying to you. You were one of many who's helped us as a team to get to #12, and we are very grateful for your service to Royal, our customers and most importantly the patients we serve. Good Luck in your next Adventure!

Pros

Good way to get basic EMT experience. Able to expand on that doing CCT or ALS transfers with medics and nurses. Good place to start a career in EMS or healthcare if you use it as a platform to jump from. The good news is they embrace this.

Cons

Basic IFT transports. Usually nothing too crazy can let your skills go soft.
