Pros

The tenured employees (5+ years) on the sales side are all supportive and have been through what you've been through and can give you the best insight on how to handle yourself while making cold calls. Essentially, it's the people that make this ministry such a family and such a blessing to be a part of. As mentioned by others, you also get certain benefits such as an allowance to go to a marriage conference or to go on an overseas mission trip and they also offer adoption assistance. Team lunches are a welcomed change and competitions create some excitement during those monotonous weeks.

Cons

If you accept a sales coordinating position, you accept the work description of a Coordinator which is cold calling secretaries and pleading with them to let you talk to a decision maker. This is hard and this will test your patience and your work ethic. If you work hard and don't take things personally, you will be fine. But again, don't take things personally and don't view your pastors as pastors but as potential customers. Your work will be viewed and communicated to you from management as the most important call to go across a pastors desk and that just simply isn't the case. Pastors are people, too. You are told to view your work as worship which if realistically approached, can be done. Once you're there past your 90 days, you will see that work as worship means to constantly put up numbers or get coached and face your position getting thrown to someone else who is on a hot streak. All in all, it is a form of manipulation that they can use and you're not allowed to question it. The scheduling is very militant, which, you get a half day Friday to make up for it. Medical Insurance is very very lackluster. I opted to get a plan on the marketplace due to the high cost of the coverage and lack of benefits through it. There is a 90 day waiting period (where, you're not expected to reach) for benefits (PTO, namely) and a one year waiting period for the other miscellaneous benefits. Moving up in the company is possible if starting at the ground level but be prepared to tell management what they want to hear and not necessarily what they need to hear.

Thank you for your feedback! I am sorry that you weren't pleased during your time working for RightNow. I would love to address some of your concerns. You mentioned leadership expects that this will be the most important call a pastor receives, if this was the impression you got from our sales process you were mistaken. We respect that pastors have a lot going on and we truly care about the mission of the church. Everything we do here is focused on coming along side the church and achieving our mission which is "trading in the pursuit of the American dream for a world that desperately needs Christ". Part of doing that is spreading the word about RightNow Media as we have seen this resource truly benefit churches and ultimately change lives. Work as Worship is by no means a manipulative phrase used by leadership, it is in fact using our roles here to glorify our Lord and Savior. With any job there will be goals and expectations to be met, in order for us to stay in business and achieve our mission we have to meet those expectations but more importantly in order to "Work as Worship" we must be faithful in the position that God has us in. The leadership team here is responsible for helping the coordinators achieve those goals. You mention a "militant schedule", I'm sorry that you were not pleased with the hours here but we have found that for most people our schedule is a blessing. We work Monday from 8-4. Tuesday-Thursday 8-6 and Friday 8-12. Personally, I love being home with my family in the evenings, being off on Friday afternoons and I especially love having the entire weekend off. Finally, we truly truly care about our team here. We love encouraging our team with fun games, music, competitions, free lunches, scholarships for mission trips, retreats, paid time off for all holidays, family friendly hours, and whatever else can offer as a non profit to make this an incredible place to work. Again, I am sorry you had a negative experience working here. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

There are many incredible people at RightNow Media. The organization's mission is powerful and does help churches, schools and businesses.

Cons

I would not recommend joining the sales organization. In fact, I am actively exploring opportunities elsewhere because the environment has become difficult to navigate and, in my experience, does not support healthy professional growth. Much of what has been written about Merry aligns with my experience. The favoritism, inconsistency, and lack of objectivity in decision-making are unlike any workplace I have encountered. I say that as someone who was often on the favorable side of those dynamics and benefited from opportunities that were not equally available to everyone. I have watched talented, hardworking, and genuinely mission-driven employees fall out of favor with leadership, sometimes with little clarity as to why and with no realistic path to rebuild trust or recover professionally. Meanwhile, others receive opportunities and support that appear disconnected from objective performance. What makes this especially unfortunate is that the organization itself has tremendous potential. The mission is meaningful, the product makes a positive impact, and there are many outstanding people throughout the company. However, it is disappointing that these leadership issues have been allowed to persist for so long because they continue to undermine what could otherwise be a truly exceptional organization. For anyone considering joining, understand that this is not an environment where open dialogue, constructive feedback, or challenging the status quo are consistently welcomed. The culture is characterized by a high degree of micromanagement and a significant lack of trust. Employees who thrive here tend to align closely with leadership's views and avoid expressing dissenting opinions. My advice would be to go in with your eyes open. If your goal is to help contribute ideas, challenge assumptions, and help shape the direction of the organization, you may find the experience frustrating.
