Pros

Overall a good place to work Local management are really engaged with employees. Decent wages and benefits.

Cons

Republic seems to be in a monkey see, monkey do mode. Anything that Waste Management does, Republic is almost always sure to follow whether it makes any sense for the Company or not. Corporate management seem to be totally focused on what Wall Street wants than taking care of their employees. I have seen employees with 20 plus years just cast aside because Republic was following WM's lead in consolidating offices. At the local division level, it seems like Human Resources have the final decision on pretty much everything. You can't hire, fire, discipline, or counsel an employee without HR's involvement. And they (HR) are almost totally focused on appearances. I personally know of an employee with over 30 years in the industry who worked his way up from the back of the truck to division manager who was told by a Human Resources employee that he was "unqualified" and "over paid" because he did not have a collage degree. That seems to be the mindset of a lot of Republic these day.

Pros

We used to have to come in every morning and stay in the office for at least an hour, then go out into the field, come back at least an hour before 5pm and stay in the office. They changed it so we only have to come in in the morning and it's so much nicer.

Cons

I really didn't get along with the sales manager. On my first day, the manager who hired me announced he was leaving. About two weeks into my employment, the new sales manager wanted to make crazy changes to show his authority. It went downhill from there. He made major cutbacks and the things he kept where supposed to be thought of as gifts, such as bottled water.
