Pros

Some great coworkers that really did help and work as a team.

Cons

Some coworkers were praised and allowed to be employed after not doing their work and pushing responsibility to the next person. Management is a big problem . Lying about policy and expecting you to do work way above your scope if responsibility and do the work of multiple people because they can not staff properly. Many times they would cut a doctors schedule due to lack of staff but expect you to get all the patients in where there are no openings. Office managers were part of the problem but the main source was the Regional managers making poor management decisions. Very little room for advancement unless you know people higher up that like you. It's not what you know here it is who you know.

Pros

Not many - for the particular RWJ hospital I worked at, I really couldn’t say unfortunately

Cons

No support from management and fairly unsafe working conditions - had to leave because it felt like I was risking my license every time I went to work. I felt really sorry for the patients who needed help, but really could not be accommodated. I was part of the night shift crew on a psych unit - max 20 patients I believe. Patients verbalized to me that it felt more like a prison than a “healing environment”. Also heavily geriatric - many patients were total care. The psych unit is not equipped for total care patients nor properly staffed. The last straw was being the only nurse scheduled to work on a Saturday with 1 MHA - full house, had two 1:1s and one was total care. If you have a 1:1, you’re basically short 1 person. I knew there was no coverage or much effort in finding one - it’s happened before, but there was at least another nurse. I have also been assigned to be charge nurse a few times with absolutely no training except from what I had observed while working - mind you I was still new to the psych unit learning my regular responsibilities as a floor nurse.
