There definitely can be a competitive atmosphere to see who is taking the most tickets. Also, some management can be focused too much on ticket taking and not on special projects and developing the Product Specialists' skill sets. That being said, you get out of the job exactly what you put in--if you just sit on your hands, you won't be engaged and you may have a bad experience because it will seem like all you are doing is taking tickets. However, if you seek out opportunities to grow your skills and branch out of the core job, then I think that it is a very fruitful position.
Also, living in Utah is definitely a change of pace for out-of-staters, although I've been relatively happy with my decision to come here. However, I live in Salt Lake City and I don't think I would enjoy living in Provo (which is much more conservative).
Pay could definitely be better, but the benefits package is pretty good.
