Pros

There are some intelligent and valuable people currently working for the company. I'm not sure how long those people are going to stay.

Cons

Purple takes motivated and valuable people and drives them into the ground. You might get the impression that hard work will improve your professional standing at the company. It won't. You'll produce and work hard, and upper-management will simply feed you more work and responsibilities without any praise or just-compensation. Consequently, the work environment is toxic, and virtually no one puts forth much effort. Imagine how much fun it is to be a middle-manager and have to review hundreds of reports completed by people who no longer care. Pay: The pay was laughable even before they instituted a "company-wide" $6000 pay cut. Purple's business plan is pretty simple. They undercut competing brokers by almost exclusively hiring inexperienced Landmen, pay them extremely low salaries, and then skim off the top. As a result, the company has enjoyed record profits the last couple of years. Imagine how happy everyone was to learn about these record profits after just having their salaries slashed and bonuses cancelled. Salaries won't be increasing anytime soon since Purple inexplicably decided to purchase and renovate a $10 million 3-story building in a down-market. They currently fill up a portion of one floor. Training: Virtually none. They fired the only person designated as a "trainer," presumably for cost reasons. You'd expect that Purple has a training system in place since it almost exclusively hires inexperienced people. Nope. They simply delegate that responsibility to the project managers--who already have a large number of other responsibilities. As a result, inexperienced landmen are essentially given assignments without much guidance and regularly have no clue what they're doing. Upper management then pressures the project managers to continue to meet their quotas, which means that the abstractors get micromanaged. This creates a very frustrating environment for everyone. This company is little more than a revolving door of desperate people who aren't able to find work elsewhere. I think it's a conservative estimate that 90% of the contractors/employees at this company are actively seeking new employment. That should give you a hint about what the work environment is like.

Pros

The company culture is fantastic, offering work/life balance, above and beyond support from management that genuinely cares about their employees and their clients with an understanding of how important relationships are. Their Associate Landman program is the absolute best! Offering great training for the industry as a whole with opportunity to grow and advance. Management is interested in feedback to know what they are doing well and what they could do to better assist their team in day to day operations. They are open to ideas and encourage creativity. They offer fantastic benefits. Purple Land Management is a great place to work. I highly recommend them.

Cons

I found no cons. I've worked with my fair share of companies in my career and I have to say Purple Land Management is one of the best, if not the best, I have ever had the privilege to work with.
