Pros

Most of the other employees are good people

Cons

Dangerous work environment with many people getting injured on the job and being told 'not to report it' Not getting paid on time or in full Your banking information for direct deposit will go missing and will take multiple times to anyone to input it into the system - average wait time is approx. two months Long work hours standing on bare floor - water is not permitted at your station and you will get dehydrated as you are required to talk constantly about your product and it is a warm environment. You will be yelled at and kept in a constant state of fear that you will be fired for nothing No training is provided to operate any of cooking machines and people are using the trash compactor and recycling compactor without certification - employees are almost injured daily by passing forklifts Inadequate or non existent tools to properly demo items Food items are never kept at proper serving temperature as there are no items to keep food adequately cold - people often use foil to cover an ice pack and cut items on that instead of using a cutting board because they dont have supplies Disabled people are employed to utilize the Ontario disabilities employment program so they will not question dangerous practices and the company will be monetarily subsided and also not have to insure these workers. They are exploited constantly. This employer has been reported to the Employment standards association many times, You receive no discounts or any other bonuses that a COSTCO employee receives. Costco employees will treat you like a second class citizen (because you are)

Pros

Great place to build technical skills and gain exposure to international markets. The team is collaborative, and managers are supportive of professional development. Work-life balance can be challenging during quarter-end, but overall the experience has been rewarding. The learning curve is steep, yet it pays off if you’re looking to strengthen both your analytical and communication skills

Pros

You get to meet and talk to all sorts of people You get to try and work with a variety of products Reasonable hours and pay Work isn't overly difficult

Cons

Some customers and Costco employees can be extremely rude and occasionally abuse their privileges (yelling at you and demanding things; cutting in front of others to get samples; letting their children jump around or hang off demo stations, even if there are hot ovens or sharp knives being used there) Upper management changes rules and policies too frequently (water bottles allowed at station, then not allowed, then allowed under special circumstances, then not allowed again) Expectations set by upper management can be overly difficult or impossible to meet (regardless of situation, set up and clean up should take 15 minutes, and sample tray should always be full) Vendors can have unrealistic expectations (push products constantly, even to people who can't use them; sell thousands of dollars of merchandise in a day, even if customers are saying it's too expensive)
