Playworks has an amazing mission that is supported by research. The culture is one of inclusion and its current scaling plan is exciting. As the regional executive director, you have the opportunity to lead expansion in a way best suited to your region and according to your capacity to secure community resources, as well as to lead and develop the team needed to achieve regional strategic goals. There is more demand than capacity for its programs, which is a wonderful problem to wrestle with.
Cons
Perhaps due to launching the scaling plan too soon after the massive expansion from one office in CA into 23 regions across the country, there has been tension between the national and regional levels around constraining the regional leadership's capacity to best meet regional needs, as well as the proper use of investments at the national level. There are efforts to address these challenges although there feels to be a disproportionate amount of time required to be spent on activities that feel like micro managing rather than helpful and that take one away from the core activities needed to succeed. Support offered is in the form of oversight versus collaboration for the most part.
