Pros

Most of the APPS with whom I worked were great coworkers, intelligent, and caring. Decent benefits as well. Many of the attending physicians were easy to work with, knowledgeable, and treated their APP colleagues well.

Cons

The Administration was sub-par. Very little true involvement in the working arena; far-removed from the "meat and potatoes" of what made the department run. As a teaching hospital, the residents were encouraged to be lazy, and the APPs were spread thin throughout the department, often carrying patient loads of 3-4x that of the more senior residents. Very little advocacy for the APP group as a whole, primarily with schedules, and overnight support.

Thank you for your years of service with Penn State Health and for the 5-star review. It’s great to hear the team felt welcoming. We’re especially proud of our Graduate Nurse Residency Program. It’s been a meaningful support system for so many nurses as they transition from nursing school into practice, and we’re glad it stood out to you.

Pros

Works from home and PTO

Cons

Consistently adding more and new work assignments with no additional compensation or training causing much stress among the staff. Pay does not reflect importance and difficulty of the position.
