Pros
I worked at Smartly part time on their admissions team. I was given the option to stay or go as they were not fond of the fact that the company I worked for full time was someone they deemed as a competitor, coupled with the fact that my availability for Smartly was limited. I have a hunch we will see a new job posting in a few days for the interviewer position, with new job duties and less pay. If you are considering the interviewer role (or any other position at Smartly) here is my honest review: PROS: --flexible, remote work environment where you set your own hours (this will likely change) --innovative start up company driven by a desire to change education --high achieving, inspirational candidates that I was privileged to speak with everyday --fun, easy, minimally stressful work environment if you are looking for extra income
Cons
CONS: --very, very early stage start up with growing pains to scale the business --interviewers treated as expendable part of the company although they drive revenue for the business --admissions team is going through a lot of change (new director of admissions was just hired) and we will see if that yields positive results internally and for students --there’s little attention/resources going to the student experience in the MBA/EMBA program beyond what’s provided in the platform since resources are going elsewhere --in admissions, we talk about the recruiting network where companies hire our students, and right now it is still in the very early stages; this caused me conflicting feelings when I spoke about it with candidates
