Pros

Working alongside some highly intelligent people. In my team were highly motivated individuals with a desire to great work despite the obstacles in their way.

Cons

I’m sure that Peak will be self-comforting at present, putting all the 1* reviews down to “bitter ex employees” being made redundant - another example of the constant deluded state the C-suite at this company seem to live in. Ironically, however, these reviews that yes, are mostly being left by 50% of the UK workforce who have just been made redundant.. are also the very same people Peak at one time hired, and don’t you pride yourselves on hiring extremely talented and intelligent people, Peak? Surely, these insanely intelligent people can’t all be wrong? It’s time to wake up and smell the free coffee you provide (bare minimum) hoping it’ll distract from the way you burn out and severely underpay all of your staff. As an ex relatively-high-ranking employee/insider and, therefore, someone who has been privy to what goes on more than most - when it comes to all of the things this company are being accused of and called out for - I’d advise you believe it. IMO: It is just a data science consultancy. The culture is toxic. There is a boys club (it seems they even coin this term behind closed doors and laugh about it). Sexism is rife. Senior Management don’t have experience or the relevant qualifications that you’d assume some roles would absolutely demand. They don’t actually encourage/want their employees to be honest otherwise they wouldn’t be sending out comms asking you to leave 5* reviews for them on here. They don’t actually want the “transparent and honest” feedback they ask for in internal employee surveys as A) they don’t allow it to be anonymous instilling fear in most employees to state how they really feel as B) when they get any critique whatsoever, they treat the person that’s submitted it unfavourably or show them the exit (and find a way to just about get away with it). The comments about mismanagement of investment and funds are true, but, unfortunately, the ski trips and lavish socials are only scratching the surface; years of foul play and lining the pockets of the ‘boys club’ through underhand, secret and loophole tactics seem to be at the core of this company. As for the CEO - laughing and making jokes whilst good, clever, charismatic people are being made redundant amidst a cost of living crisis? The only sale this company has made recently must have been the CEO’s eardrums as I’ve never seen anything so shockingly tone deaf. And lastly, as cutting as the current low rating reviews are, there probably would be even worse reviews left on here if there weren’t ways of ensuring people didn’t.. which I believe companies like Peak probably exercise. For anyone considering taking a job here, please, do yourself a favour and pay attention to the negative reviews. There really is no smoke without fire, and with this company, it’s a conflagration.

Thank you for leaving a review. Our People and Exec teams have read your review and were incredibly disappointed that you had such a negative experience at Peak. Part of our mission is to create a company we all love to be a part of and we’re sorry that we did not live up to the standards that we set. It’s clear from your review that there’s a lot of emotion, which is completely understandable. We know it’s been a really hard start to the year and the effects of that are still being felt throughout the team. We discussed your review in detail and felt that instead of responding to each of your points here with no way of continuing the conversation, our Chief People Officer, Rob, would like to set up a one to one chat with you to discuss your feedback in more detail. If that’s not something you’d like to do, please know that our People and Exec teams read all of the reviews and are taking on board the feedback. Since the start of this year, we’ve held a Board Q&A session where anonymous questions were submitted, we’ve amended our quarterly feedback survey to include additional themes that were requested by the team, and put in more structure around our Exec and wider management teams to speed up decision making and improve communication flows. We know there’s still a lot to do – we have recently identified a list of actions, each with an Exec sponsor, and progress on these will be shared at our company stand ups on a monthly basis. You can reach Rob at people@peak.ai. Again, we’re incredibly sorry for your experience and wish you all the best.
