Pros

1. So many fun culture events! This company goes out of its way to bring its remote employees together. Lunch and Learns, Lunch Roulettes, lunchtime yoga, Virtual Prom, weekly Happy Hours, virtual Holiday party. Many opportunities for us all to connect outside of a work. 2. Working to improve diversity! Legit trying to walk the walk, not just talk the talk, through the holidays we get to observe (like Juneteenth! MLK Day!), the DE&I committee, cultural coffee talks about DE&I topics, benefits that support families of all types, and an internal commitment to allowing all voices to be heard. 3. Fully Remote and remote-first mindset! Work from anywhere! 4. Ever-improving benefits! I've been here over a year and have watched our benefits improve dramatically. Unlimited/flexible PTO! Family leave! Tons of wellness benefits like DSA/FSA/HSA, Kindbody, TalkSpace, HealthAdvocate, etc! 5. A regular outpouring of praise and acknowledgement. People here are not afraid to shout out awesome work or rockstar colleagues. You get donuts on your birthday and well-wishes galore for every other kind of celebration. Good work is called out and appreciated. We are super collaborative and high-fivey. It's such a positive, upbeat place to work. 6. THE PEOPLE. I love coming to work every day because everyone here is so kind and welcoming and hard working. Under performers will not do well here since we all have to wear different hats and help one another out in various ways. But team players will thrive!

Cons

1. Startup pains may not be for some folks. But anyone in a small, quickly growing company will have to deal with similar things -- areas where we may be lacking processes or transparency or enough communication. 2. The fast paced work environment may not be for everyone (personally, I love it). 3. Some people dont love the remote-only aspect of work right now.

Pros

I, like many current OpenReel employees, joined the team during a period of rapid growth. As a provider of technology for remote video capture, the shift to remote work and distributed teams led companies to discover this need that is now an integral part of their video tech stack. That growth has led to an exciting work environment, opportunity for continued organizational and individual growth, and the development of an exceptional team that truly enjoys working collaboratively to succeed. Leadership is heavily invested in ensuring the continued growth of the company and empowering all employees to contribute to the ongoing success of the company. Currently the team is distributed and fully remote, which lends itself to challenges in team building and collaboration, but the team finds creative ways to make employees feel involved and connected. The benefits and perks are strong, and always improving. In the last year additional paid holidays were added, we transitioned to an unlimited PTO model, and the unexpected perks like food delivery vouchers and swag deliveries are always great to be surprised with. Many resources have been funneled towards supporting the existing technology to meet the needs of the quickly growing customer base (which includes many large and exciting companies to work with) over the last 18 months. Now that the company has scaled the future roadmap has the company set up to excel beyond just the remote video space, which presents a lot of exciting opportunities.

Cons

As a quickly growing startup, things tend to change quickly. You need to stay on your toes to adapt to quickly changing processes, product updates, additional team members, and more. There is also an attitude of everything is everyone's job. No task is too big or too small for anyone from new hires up to top management, so you need to be prepared for all types of responsibilities. While some of those responsibilities or tasks aren't always fun, they go towards accomplishing a goal.
