Pros

Remote Work From Home!! Good training to a point, flexible schedule to a point, pretty good at getting you reassigned if the contract you are on suddenly evaporates

Cons

You are a 1099 contractor, so you have to pay attention to your taxes. If you don't have a background in whatever the contract is about, the training won't necessarily get you where you need to be. The schedule is flexible if they haven't over-hired, which causes the schedule bid each week to turn in to a free for all where some people end up with insufficient hours and/or unworkable schedules. They often seemed to hire anyone with a pulse who could pass a background check and then see who can make it though training, which means your coworkers may not be particularly good or knowledgeable or pleasant. Your contract may suddenly get pulled, which happened to me twice, in which case you are out of work (sometimes with no notice) unless and until they can get you a new assignment and re-train you. At my third contract I ended up in a situation where it was very difficult and stressful to try to get in a bid to get the required 20 hours, and I was not making enough money, so discussed this with them and they said they would try to reassign me. They attempted to but we ran into technical issues with trying to verify my ID through their photo software and the next thing I knew, I get an email saying I've been "deactivated". They have never answered my questions as to why I was suddenly blacklisted, they just tell me it is not subject to appeal. So much for three years of consistently excellent reviews and being "family". I suspect I insulted an overworked tech by telling them I wished they would read my emails instead of guessing at what my problem is and then not listening to me when I tell them we already tried that fix 3 times in the last hour, but I guess I'll never know whose nose I bent or what rule I broke.

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad you appreciate the flexibility of being able to choose your own hours and workdays. Since Omni Interactions offers 1099 contractor opportunities, pay rates are set per contract rather than adjusted like a traditional employee wage. Contractors can, however, explore new contracts as they become available, which may offer different pay structures or incentives. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!

Pros

Good culture at least for my project. Fair pay. Managers that care even if it feels like a lot of stuff "bad" about the project is out of their hands because it's set by the company we are contacting for

Cons

Hours can be hard to come by and if / when the project you're working on ends it can be a while before a new one pops up. Contract work so you pay self employment taxes

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback, and we're glad to hear that you've had a positive experience with your project's culture, pay, and support from your leaders. We know that when client-driven policies feel out of a support leader's control, it can be frustrating, and we appreciate you recognizing the effort our support leaders put in despite those constraints. We hear you on the challenges with hours and gaps between projects — this is one of the harder realities of contract-based work, and we're continually working to improve project pipeline visibility and minimize downtime between assignments. We also recognize that self-employment tax responsibilities are an adjustment for many independent contractors, and we try to provide resources to help make that transition easier. Your point about certification is valuable feedback. We're always evaluating how to make certification as effective as possible, and input like yours — especially from someone who's experienced different approaches — helps us shape those decisions going forward. Thanks again for your honest and balanced review. We're glad to have you as part of the team.
