Pros

Masochism Some nice co-workers and good product

Cons

The founders.. Targets changed all the time, comp plan changed 4 times in 2 months (obviously not for the better). In 6 months the entire management team (excluding the founders) have all left. Revolving door of sales staff, nearly all fired. Clawback of substantial amount of sales commission, with no proof of validity even when requested ( just taken from base salary with no notification). No finance team left, so when a customer doesn’t pay they blame the sales team and clawback their commission and tell them it’s on them to chase payments. CEO shouting at people daily, even to the point of bringing a colleague to tears. Seriously, avoid this place.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that this was your experience, and while we don’t agree with many of the details, we recognize that your perspective reflects a period of real challenges for the company. Since that time, Ocean.io has gone through significant changes — including leadership restructuring, more stable compensation frameworks, clearer communication practices, and a stronger focus on transparency and support across teams. We’ve also made important steps to rebuild trust internally and foster a more positive, professional culture. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and appreciate your time at Ocean.

Pros

Ocean.io is an excellent company with a genuinely differentiated product, a thoughtful team, and a clear understanding of the problems they're solving for customers. In a market full of vendors making similar claims, they've built something that stands out through both innovation and execution.

Cons

None come to mind right now. As with any software business, the environment is performance-oriented and the pace can be demanding at times. Expectations are high, and success requires adaptability, ownership, and a willingness to operate in a competitive market. That said, I found the challenges to be a natural part of working with a growing SaaS company rather than anything unique to Ocean.io specifically.

Pros

Uncapped commission with a base salary.

Cons

People here work like robots, only following orders and every whim of management! Doing something out of your own discernment will get you in trouble! You will get yelled at if you have a mind of your own and did something without management's permission!

Thank you for sharing this. We take every review seriously, and we always want to listen when someone feels let down. We do want to be candid, though. We're a small team with close, direct relationships across everyone here, and the experience described in this review is genuinely hard for us to recognize. Giving people room to use their own judgment - particularly when it comes to looking after our clients - is core to how we work. We're not claiming everything is perfect, but the kind of environment described here is exactly what our culture is built to catch and fix, and it isn't something we've seen play out this way. To be direct: people at Ocean don't yell at each other. If this was a real experience at Ocean, I'd very much welcome the chance to hear it firsthand and make things right. My door is always open - you're welcome to connect with me on LinkedIn and reach out to me directly anytime. Warm regards, Philipp People & Culture, Ocean
