This is an engineering company first, and there are no two ways around it. Manufacturing and production technicians are not treated (by their managers) with the same respect as the engineers. The technicians are grossly undervalued and are not given much opportunity to advance (or move laterally into a different role in the company).
The hardware engineering group is having some growing pains, and I have even seen a good engineer leave because one of the long-time (soon to retire) engineers would not share any work.
A couple of the long time employees do not act professionally toward others.
