There has been a lot of positive changes in culture.

Upper management is confused on the direction of the company and lack proper understanding of how, and why, they should sell cyber security products. Also HR is the worst.

Good people within the organisation willing to do everything they can to better the business. Competitive salaries and benefits.

Senior leadership is failing the business in a big way. This recent blind sided announcement of compulsory 20% presentism (because without any reasoning to the contrary, this is exactly what it is) is just the latest example. The reason for this new policy? To improve "Culture".. No details of what this culture should be or where it is falling down under the current policies were provided. The leadership team, seem to have forgotten that culture is determined by behaviour regardless of being remote/hybrid or in person and it is developed and nurtured by living that culture from the top down and setting an example to be followed. The only example currently being set is one of lacking respect for staff. The issue most staff have with this recent announcement is not the instruction itself, but the way in which it was delivered. The leadership team persisted in claiming that staff were simply confused by hybrid policy and that nothing was actually any different and the staff themselves must simply have misunderstood. The trouble with this approach is that it is a total lie. Staff have been recruited over the last 2 years with very explicit messaging around the expectations of attending the office. As a result, Nominet was able to attract a higher calibre of employee from further afield. The issue? They were all sold a job based on a remote footing (and yes, the word remote was used by managers and HR alike). Now they are being told they must attend the office 1 day a week regardless of how far away they live. The concession is that they are allowed to do it in bulk monthly and stay away from home and families in a premier inn for a week. One of the values Nominet champions is integrity, I have not seen any examples of that from our leaders during this process. Suggesting "we are all in this together" while they and their 6 figure salaries are unaffected by this cost of living crisis is incredibly tone deaf. Then to send an all company email that in states people need to treat others with respect in their dealings while showing no respect themselves to those employees that have just had their world turned upside down and told to get on with it. This announcement was dropped on us all out of the blue and to expect people to not have an emotional reaction is simply delusional. Respect goes both ways, I think the leadership team should stop and consider that before pushing blindly forward with an incredibly ill conceived policy while ignoring all opposition, reasonable or otherwise. As employees we are effected by the plight of our colleagues, and so even those staff that can meet this new arbitrary measure (while most are already doing so), it is there to see how dramatically this has effected those staff that do not have such an easy option. I wish I could say this was the only thing wrong with the leadership team, however, it is simply the latest example. Projects are badly handled due to indecisive leaders and lack of clear guidance and direction. Incompetence is ignored while hard work is taken for granted. If Nominet wants to continue its great work in public benefit, it seriously needs to start looking inwardly and getting serious about it's shortcomings. It will never get on track while be stagger from one priority to another, putting any deemed too big to tackle on the backburner.
