Pros

1. The team culture is very friendly, with colleagues who are approachable and willing to help or clarify questions whenever needed. 2. Working hours are relatively flexible. 3. Being a small team, there are opportunities to share ideas directly with senior management, and input is generally welcomed.

Cons

1. Compensation is WAY below market rate compared to similar roles in the industry, and overall pay feels low for the amount of workload. 2. The company lacks formal structure, with key functions such as HR and Finance not established in-house, and most matters being handled directly by the CEO. 3. There are concerns around favouritism from upper management, which can impact employee experience and fairness. In some cases, it feels like once the CEO forms an opinion of you, it is hard to change. 4. Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) are used in a way that may not always lead to successful outcomes, even when improvements are shown, which can feel discouraging. 5. Annual performance reviews are frequently delayed, and mid-year reviews are not consistently conducted despite being communicated as part of the process. 6. Work-life balance can be challenging, with expectations to respond to messages outside of working hours, including evenings and weekends. Urgent tasks are often expected to be completed within a few hours while still managing the full daily workload. 7. Management style can be highly hands-on (MICROMANAGE), with instances of employees being addressed publicly in team settings, which may feel like being called out in front of others. 8. High-performing employees may be assigned additional responsibilities beyond their scope, sometimes taking on other people’s work, while performance management across the team may appear inconsistent. 9. There is a perceived gap between verbal commitments and actual implementation, so it is important to have things clearly documented rather than relying on verbal promises. 10. Company benefits and employee perks are minimal, with NO bonuses, CNY/Raya angpow, and company trip or team-building initiatives. Even team meals are typically self-funded. Any external team-building initiatives that are executed is usually because the company receive FOC items from clients. 11. Annual leave and medical benefits are limited (14 days AL, RM300 outpatient claim PER YEAR), and opportunities for increased entitlements through promotion may be unclear or infrequent, which can make progression feel restricted. 12. Some advertised perks, like a “well-stocked pantry,” do not always reflect the actual situation, as restocking is infrequent and supplies are often insufficient for the office size.
