Pros
If you’re trapped in a geography where there are no other major employees, go for it! Some kind of internal protectionism kicks in at the last minute to make sure profits occur, but at really bad cultural and reputational cost. At least that’s there from the company POV, not ok for non-exec employees.
Cons
Sexist, racist, protectionist, buddy promotion culture, also consistently to acquired companies: strip and dump, except for compliant drones. Too many VPs with end-of-career surfing to retirement, tiny and irrelevant turf wars.
