Pros
This was a really great company. It offered excellent benefits, modern work space, fantastic location, lots of opportunity and career development. This all changed when the original company located in SF merged with another company on the east coast. Both companies were similar in their internal corporate cultures, but they were ultimately very different from each other. Over a period of 15 years, the company was taken over by the east coast company. Now the SF office is empty and closing soon. What was once a very friendly, open and almost family-like environment turned into a very sad and depressing place -- the culture dominated by distrust and fear.
Cons
The SF office is closing. There have been a lot of layoffs. The downsizing was not adequately communicated to employees. In fact, employees were misled by being reassured many, many times that the company was in great shape financially. On a particularly bad day after some very hard layoffs, the CEO was wearing a Hawaiian shirt and gave me a hive five in the hallway. Then he ordered pizza as if the celebrate. It was really bizarre and inappropriate behavior considering 10% of the work force had just been let go -- some of them had worked there for 20 years or more.
