Pros
The vast majority of the team are wonderful people - really friendly and a fun environment to work in.
Cons
The head management clearly have very little respect for employees, and were in many cases incompetent.
Myself and a number of colleagues were hired via the Kickstart Scheme for 16-24 year olds on Universal Credit. The CEO and his circle clearly took advantage of the scheme to hire desperate young people at little to no cost. Despite being routinely pushed to meet unrealistic targets, it was known that the CEO had referred to some of us as 'lazy', and micromanaged our work.
Our wages were consistently paid late, so those with rent and bills to cover were left stressed and adrift. On one such occasion, the CEO disappeared for two days without anyone able to contact him about the late wages. When he did eventually reply to our emails and phone calls, it was to repeatedly make excuses about funds being 'stuck overseas'.
A month after I left Music Gateway, I was informed that the other Kickstarters had been let go, presumably because the company was cut off from the Kickstart scheme due to the CEO's dodgy practices.
Also worth bearing in mind that we were only being paid £16k-18k during all this. As well as the fact that, according to gov.uk, the CEO has been responsible for five dissolved companies before Music Gateway.
Middle management were clearly overworked, some of them working up to 3-4 extra hours a day on low pay.
