Pros

To be completely honest, this company doesn't have many pros. One of them is the city centre location and the other is the person I worked alongside, he was a decent guy!

Cons

I'm actually worried when I start writing the cons of this company, I won't be able to stop as they are absolutely horrendous! By far the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working for. As you can see, this company states it has 51-200 employees and is "international". Yeah right! When I worked there, there was myself, another employee, the manager and the owner. The day at Mortimer Bell is so chaotic with no sense of direction. Management are constantly talking about how big the company will be in 5 years and do not concentrate on what's happening at this present time. KPIs are changed on a daily basis, generally always increased which make it almost impossible to meet them! Motivation consists of getting told "keep it up guys!" or the owner telling you how amazing he is, how much money he makes etc. The company is NOT professional at all and they have a huge staff turn over. Management will discuss previous employees with such disregard and no doubt they're doing the exact same about myself. The owner is so disrespectful and condescending. The only thing he is good at is belittling you and making you feel like you aren't good enough. As a company they are so cut throat and ruthless it's actually unbelievable. The commission structure would be quite good if you ever got it! The company very rarely wins jobs and when they do, it's always weeks after other agencies have attempted to fill the roles and failed. 90% of jobs on their website are fake!!! You are paid the bare minimum are expected to stay well after your contracted hours for free. Hard work and dedication is NOT appreciated. You are constantly expected to work that little bit harder! It's a joke! I absolutely detested the place and I've never ever been so happy to leave somewhere in my life.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed our city centre location, the reason for the city centre location is to allow our staff to use town or socialise outside of work with friends or colleagues. In relation to staff turnover, we have one of the lowest staff turnovers for our sector, over 80% of our current employees have stayed with the business over 2 years of service. In relation to our salaries our starting salary for a Graduate is £17,000 including Uncapped Commission. We do annual reviews of staff salaries with multiple staff members seeing an increase of basic salary up to £25,000 after 1 year of service example of this being Richard Hindmarch and Craig Hughes. In relation to winning jobs and clients we please kindly ask you to view our Testimonial page on our website where we clearly state the full name of the person leaving the comment, and we are proud to work with such companies as BSKYB, IBM, Capgemini, Epson etc. Nevertheless, I appreciate that there are still many aspects we can improve upon as a business. If you can please contact me directly on 0203 955 6870 that would be great, I look forward to hearing from you in due course.

Pros

I joined as a Graduate fresh out of King's College London and with no clue about recruitment! It was tough, but I did receive the tools to become a good recruitment consultant and the advantage to working in an SME is that you can ask the Director for advice. Relaxed approach to work attire and a friendly office environment really make the long days fly by, and the office location right in the centre of Newcastle is a benefit. A table-tennis table was definitely a good investment. I haven't experienced other Recruitment firms to be honest, but I think the discretionary benefits/bonuses are above and beyond what I expected out of any employer. So far, I have been fortuitous enough to part-take in Lunch Clubs, Fun Days and Poker Tournaments (or should that be misfortune). Alongside this I have learnt a lot and been given numerous opportunities. I have certainly learnt how to get more out of a day in this job! Overall just a friendly office in a fast-pace industry based in the heart of Newcastle.

Cons

In fairness most of the cons of working here are like that in every SME, such as an undeveloped support network (i.e. no big IT/HR teams). As with most sales jobs if you go a long time without billing the hours do tend to drag and your mood in the office is affected by this mainly because some things are just beyond your control!

Pros

- Training - Commission Scheme - Friendly Culture - Modern Offices - Market Presence - Incentives I have been working full time at MBI for less than a year and everything is going great so far. The company provide thorough training and support to new employees to ensure that you get up to speed as fast as possible. Everyone in the office is very welcoming and friendly and they all provide help and advice with anything that you may be struggling with. The commission scheme is excellent and gives you a great incentive to work hard. As well as the commission, there are loads of other incentives such as bottles of champagne, fun days out if we hit targets, lunch club and other prizes for various achievements. The company is in a great position within the market and we work with many household name clients. There aren't many companies where a graduate can come in and, within 2 months, start doing business with Fortune 500 companies. The future is looking very bright and I can see myself being at MBI for many years to come.

Cons

The recruitment industry can be tough and hard work is essential if you want to succeed. Luckily, MBI have all the infrastructure in place to provide support and help you achieve any financial goals you may have.
