Pros

Carthage elementary has a great staff. The health benefits are good, $25 dollars a month, they also offer dental, and vision. Teachers normally have approximately a 45 minute break while students are on specials. Teachers are structured and have high expectations for children, You earn 1 paid sick day a month, you get paid when children are off for Christmas break, Spring break, and you are insured during during the summer.

Cons

Start time is 7:00 A.M., pay increase is based on funding from the state, No bachelors degree, no opportunity for growth.

Flexible Schedule Passionate coworkers You can work a lot of hours

Low pay You have to be on call to get more classes, if you call out for any reason, it can affect your availability I got the run around when it came to transitioning over to being a full time teacher, and I was referring to and being referred to programs on the NC DPI website. It seems that they wanted a sub or an EC instructor, that’s it.
