Pros

It was great to be a part of an organisation that is striving for better outcomes, by reducing the barriers of entry into tech, and with a special focus on marginalised groups. It feels as if they truly care about their students and their aspirations for a fruitful career. Staff have been especially satisfied working under Manpreet, Programme Director.

Cons

The leaders are mission-focused, yet it was odd that they chose to sometimes keep their staff in the dark about things happening in the business. This is understandable to an extent, yet the lack of transparency really made some of us feel uneasy and unsure about whether we can trust their decisions. At other times, it felt as though leadership lacked empathy for their team, and did not understand their challenges. Also note this organisation is a small-business so their resources are limited, expect to collate and analyse your data yourself in excel spreadsheets.

Pros

-Flexibility -Great coworkers -The mission is actually cool -A couple of hearts of gold in the mix who really try their best -Hard workers

Cons

-Gaslighty. Leadership don't know or believe that their staff are overworked. When one tries to address the issue, you are told that this can't be true, just nodded at, talked out of your point and nothing is done about it. In all hands meetings they will pat themselves on the back for doing a tick box activity or two, and you will have one on ones, But if you continue to press what they see as "negative" they will find a way to let you go. When things feel wrong, it's your fault and they might start to clamp down on monitoring your work and old fashioned control methods, rather than looking in the mirror. You're also told to stick to processes that don't exist. -Lack of boundaries. Constantly switch people's roles around without consultation. They don't care about how this affects morale or even productivity. People are just coggs in the machine for ever-changing systems. They claim to be agile, but really they are reactive. -Processes and systems are a mess, and employees are used to plug holes in these systems, adding more stress and annoyance at each task. -Constantly firing people. The 3 month trial period, used as a back up by most companies, seems to be an active management strategy by Mission Ready. People are also set up to fail then let go at later stages. -You don't get out what you put in. The mission is cool, and when people are first hired they have energy to put towards it. But you will soon be drained and there are no perks, career progression or even job security ,and as mentioned overwhelm becomes your fault. -Distinct lack of support and training. Pressure is put on middle management to support their stressed out staff and fix crazy ad hoc situations because there are no risk management or adeqaute training procedures in place.
