Pros

The clients are great and so are most of the company's values. You can learn a lot from your time here.

Cons

If you don't fit into a specific box for the kind of worker you are, I think it can be difficult. MN values type A people which is typical of agencies. Over the last year in the spirit of growth, a lot has changed at Mission North. Unfortunately, it no longer feels as collegial and more like your typical PR agency. Managers can often focus on checking insignificant boxes and miss the bigger picture. There is also a bit of arrogance at the company in how it views itself.

Pros

I was at MN for five years and learned a lot about corporate comms! They certainly train and invest in early career employees.

Cons

Unrealistic workload, no work-life balance. Management wants you to post in a thousand little Slack boards instead of doing your work.

They pay you very well to keep you quiet.

Cons

False transparency. Superficial culture. HR is there to protect the business, not the employees. They check the boxes great for inclusivity, but it's all superficial. Every employee survey even shows that LGBTQIA+ and those with disabilities don't feel seen or heard despite having ERGs. They don't promote on quality of skills or performance, they only care about soft skills and how others see you. If you're not willing to play the game, you probably should work somewhere else. It's 100% politics after they pushed out their former partner.
