The division I worked in was exciting, fast-paced and challenging - not your typical "state worker" stereotype at all. The workers are friendly and hard-working
Cons
State regulations and legal often hinder process - making the business less agile than a private company
Straight forward in expectations, once you learn the system it's a piece of cake, it's the same thing over and over.
Cons
Sometimes they change procedures on things and the office staff doesn't update everybody because there are so many changes and other tasks they have so you'll get something a bit messed up. Everything is fixable so not a big deal but student assistants aren't included in the emails about updates ever.
